HOUSE FOREIGN AFFAIRS
Welcome! Our names are Aidan Keenan and Halle Clottey and we are super excited to be your staffers for the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Here’s a little bit about us:
Halle is a first-year in Canaday Hall and is currently considering concentrating in Computer Science and Philosophy. She was born in London but currently lives in Blue Island, Illinois. Halle never participated in Model Congress during highschool, but she is very excited to learn more from her delegates by being a staff member of this committee.
Aidan is a sophomore in Leverett House concentrating in Social Studies and Environmental Science/Public Policy with a secondary in Computer Science and a citation in Spanish. He is originally from Salem, Massachusetts and is passionate about making sure everyone at Harvard visits his hometown. He participated in Harvard Model Congress in high school and is thrilled to be continuing in college. Outside of HMC he is a member of the Club Swim Team and volunteers at a local after school program.
Dating back to the first Congress, the House Foreign Affairs Committee has been an integral part of the United States’ relationships with other nations. With jurisdiction ranging from international broadcasting to global health policy and embassy security, the Foreign Affairs Committee is an interesting, relevant, and exciting Committee, especially in the age of globalization.
Due to the stimulating nature of the Committee’s focus, you can be assured that we will have engaging, wide ranging debates. Our focus this year will be on China’s Belt and Road Initiative and North Korea’s Nuclear Weapons Program. Please come prepared to discuss these issues in a comprehensive manner and with an eye towards innovative solutions.
We cannot wait to meet you! HMC is always a wonderful experience and we are looking forward to hearing your ideas and seeing you work together to take on some of the toughest foreign policy issues of our time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions, concerns, or even just an introduction or a joke!
Looking forward to the conference!
Aidan and Halle
