$30 Billion Donated to CoreCivic, One of the Largest Private Prisons, Over Public Schools

As of today, January 13th, 2024, an anonymous donation of $30 billion dollars has been donated to CoreCivic, one of the top largest private prison corporations in the United States, over public schools nationwide.

When countless Americans campaigned to pass a revolutionary education reform bill to sponsor Title 1 public schools desperately in need of funding across the nation, a shocking full amount of $30 million was gifted to CoreCivic. Soon after, Congress executively decided against passing the education reform bill; outrage sparked throughout the country at the decision to restrain $25 billion from improving the public school system.

Congressman Mark Takano (@themarktakano) tweeted in response to the failed bill “This country does not stand with those who are disproportionately enrolled in Title 1 schools and let down by the system. When will real change come?”

That same day, Ava Change (@changeworld13) revealed in a tweet that CoreCivic had been donated $30 billion by an anonymous source. They further argued “Our tax dollars should be invested in education, healthcare, and social programs, NOT in perpetuating a broken system,” paired with the hashtag “#SocialJusticeNow.”

This controversially large donation has stirred up mayhem amongst the Congress members and America as a whole. Many suspect senators to be at fault, which leaves one final question: who is guilty for this donation?
