A Potential End to Medical Staff Shortages in U.S.

Each year, thousands of students apply to medical schools in hopes of ultimately becoming medical staff to help the public by providing better healthcare and treating sick patients.

Unfortunately as of 2024, there is a medical staff shortage but recently the Dreamer bill was passed, with sixty-six to five Republicans and Democrats in favour to help support students in need of financial aid when entering medical school, the shortage could come to an end.

Republicans and Democrats have decided to unite in order to provide an opportunity for students wanting to proceed a path in the medical field. By making medical school accessible for students to complete, employment of Medical opportunities will be filled and the medical staff shortage will potentially decrease.

In a recent interview with Jamie Raskin, he stated “A 2.4% tax cut to smaller medical businesses increases taxes by 1% on larger businesses and takes the group and money from the 1% increase and puts it into giving scholarships to medic to people who want to go to medical school.” The goal of the bill is the increase the number of medical students and doctors to help with medical staff shortages. In addition, Jamie Raskin predicts there will be an increase in smaller clinics and other medical businesses to help with competitions and lowering prices.

Moving forward, there will be an increase in competition and innovation for students as the bill creates a free market for all applicants. All students are eligible for this scholarship when they qualify for medical school but they cannot afford the tuition. The program will assist students and portentally grant scholarships in return. Depending on the amount of applicants from states and amount of taxes generated from 1% tax increase, will determine the applicants being accepted.

Students are encouraged to apply for this program in hopes of pursuing a field that will potentially put an end to medical staff shortage in the US.
